3D HydrO2 facials, honestly: which of the three tiers is worth your money?

A 3D HydrO2 facial is the most reliable "looks better by this evening" treatment in aesthetics. The question is which tier actually earns the difference in price.

The hydro facial has become the default request for anyone who wants visible improvement without needles, downtime or a decision they might regret. That reputation is largely deserved. What is less clear to most people booking one is what separates the three tiers, and whether the top one is worth three times the entry price.

A note on the name. Our facials are delivered on the 3D HydrO2 system rather than the Hydrafacial machine, and the September 2026 price list names the tiers Express, Deluxe and Platinum. Same idea, more technologies in the handpiece, and a clearer ladder between the three.

What the machine actually does

The 3D HydrO2 is a multi-technology device: hydro peel, exfoliation, oxygenation, electro-ion infusion, ultrasound, radiofrequency and cryo therapy, all through one system. Rather than a therapist manually extracting, it uses controlled hydro peel and suction combined with delivered solution — which is why it is more comfortable than traditional extractions and why the results are more consistent between appointments. Each tier draws on more of those technologies.

  1. Cleanse and hydro peel — the surface layer of dead skin is lifted away with water rather than harsh abrasion.
  2. Exfoliation and extraction — congestion is cleared under suction. This is the step people find satisfying and, unusually for extractions, not painful.
  3. Oxygenation and infusion — hyaluronic acid and actives are driven into freshly cleared skin, which is the reason the finish looks plumped rather than stripped.
  4. Ultrasound, radiofrequency and cryo — the deeper tiers add firming and a cooling finish, so the skin looks calm as well as clear.

Express — £75

A focused cleanse, exfoliation and hydration in half an hour. This is the right booking if you want your skin to look its best on Friday and it is Thursday. It is also the sensible way to find out whether you like the treatment before committing to more.

What you do not get is the targeted work — less time on extraction, and none of the deeper technologies. For clear skin that just needs brightening, that is no loss at all.

Deluxe — £150

The version most people should book, and our most popular tier. An hour allows genuine time on extraction rather than a pass over the obvious areas, and it draws on six technologies to treat congestion, dullness, pigmentation and sun-damaged skin alongside deep hydration.

If you are having one facial and want it to be worth the trip, this is it.

Platinum — £225

Ninety minutes, all seven technologies, and radiofrequency skin tightening added for firmness and long-term skin health, delivered at a relaxed pace. The £75 over Deluxe buys the tightening and the time — and for skin that has started to lose firmness, skin that has not been treated in a long while, or anyone who simply wants the unhurried version, that is the valuable part.

Where Platinum clearly earns its price: early laxity along the jaw, thicker skin that needs longer to respond, and pre-wedding or pre-event appointments where you want everything done.

Courses, if you are preparing for something

The same facial repeated builds one result over time, which is why the Deluxe and Platinum tiers are also sold as courses of three or six: Deluxe at £410 for three or £820 for six, Platinum at £620 for three or £1,220 for six. Sessions are usually taken weekly or fortnightly in the run-up to a wedding, holiday or occasion. Facial courses are valid for six months from purchase and include a complimentary Progress Scan, so the change is measured rather than guessed.

How long the result lasts

Honestly? Five to seven days for the obvious glow, and a little longer for the improvement in congestion. This is a treatment that maintains skin rather than transforming it.

Monthly is the rhythm that suits most skin — roughly aligned with the skin's renewal cycle. Every six weeks is perfectly reasonable for maintenance. Once a year before a wedding is fine too, as long as the expectation is a good day rather than a lasting change.

Timing it around an event

If it is your first ever facial treatment, give yourself a week. Occasionally clearing congestion brings a small amount of it to the surface in the following days — uncommon, but not what you want on the morning of a wedding.

Who it suits, and who should look elsewhere

It suits almost everyone, which is the reason for its popularity. It is safe on all skin tones, appropriate during pregnancy with the radiofrequency step left out, sensible for teenagers with congestion, and unlikely to cause a reaction.

It is the wrong treatment if your concern is fine lines, laxity beyond the early stage, pigmentation with real depth, or acne scarring. A facial improves the surface. For anything structural, look at skin boosters, exosome microneedling or a resurfacing peel instead — and expect downtime in exchange for the deeper result.

Combining it with other treatments

A 3D HydrO2 facial pairs well before a course of injectables — clean, decongested skin is a better starting point. It should not be booked in the same week as a resurfacing peel or immediately after injectables in the same area. Two weeks either side of injectable treatment is the usual guidance.

Common questions

How long does the glow from a 3D HydrO2 facial last?

The visible glow typically lasts five to seven days, with improvements in congestion lasting a little longer. Monthly treatment suits most skin as maintenance.

Which 3D HydrO2 facial should I book?

Deluxe at £150 is the right choice for most people — an hour, six technologies and proper extraction time. Express (£75) suits a quick pre-event refresh; Platinum (£225) adds radiofrequency tightening and suits skin that has begun to lose firmness.

How long before an event should I have a facial?

Three to five days before. There is no real downtime, but skin looks its best once any transient pinkness has settled. For a first-ever facial, allow a week.

Is a 3D HydrO2 facial safe during pregnancy?

The cleansing, exfoliating and hydrating steps are generally considered suitable during pregnancy. Tell your practitioner at booking so the radiofrequency step and any active boosters can be left out or adjusted.

Does a 3D HydrO2 facial help with acne scarring?

No. A facial improves the surface of the skin — congestion, dullness and texture. Acne scarring is a structural concern requiring treatments that work at depth, such as microneedling with exosomes.

Is a 3D HydrO2 facial the same as a Hydrafacial?

They share the idea of a water-based, multi-step facial, but they are different machines. The 3D HydrO2 system adds oxygenation, ultrasound, radiofrequency and cryo therapy, which is what separates the Deluxe and Platinum tiers.
