Combining treatments: what pairs well, and what should never share a week
Most people end up wanting more than one thing. Sequencing them properly is the difference between a plan and a pile of appointments.
Almost nobody has exactly one concern. What usually happens is that a consultation for one thing surfaces two or three, and the question becomes how to fit them together without either wasting money or irritating the skin.
This is the sequencing logic we use.
The three principles
- One stimulus at a time in one area. Two treatments both asking the same tissue to repair, within days of each other, is not double the result. It is unpredictable inflammation and no way of knowing what worked.
- Foundation before detail. Skin quality and structure first, refinement afterwards. Treating a fine line on dehydrated, congested skin is doing detail work on a poor foundation.
- Leave room to assess. Every treatment needs a window where its effect can be judged alone. Stacking removes that window permanently.
Pairs that work well
3D HydrO2 facial, then anything
A decongesting facial one to two weeks before starting any course is close to universally sensible. Clean, hydrated skin responds better and lets you see what the actual problem is.
Anti-wrinkle treatment and skin boosters
These address different things — muscle movement and skin quality — and combine well. Space them two weeks apart, in either order. Treating the same area on the same day risks displacing product before it settles.
Polynucleotides under the eyes, Profhilo on the lower face
Different areas, complementary jobs. Run the polynucleotide course first, pause two to four weeks, then the Profhilo protocol.
Microneedling and PRP or exosomes
Not merely compatible — designed to be done together in the same appointment. The channels are the delivery route.
Structural support, then skin quality
Where both are needed, structure first. Radiesse or volume work sets the shape; skin treatments then improve what sits over it. Doing it the other way round means treating skin that is about to be repositioned.
Pairs that need real spacing
| Combination | Minimum interval | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Any injectable → facial or facial massage | 2 weeks | Pressure can displace product that has not settled |
| Resurfacing → injectable in the same area | 2 weeks | Compromised skin barrier and injection sites do not mix |
| Microneedling → any other treatment | 2 weeks | The barrier needs to fully restore |
| Two biostimulators, same area | 4 weeks | One stimulus at a time, and assessability |
| Green Peel → anything | Until peeling completes, then 2 weeks | The renewal cycle must finish undisturbed |
| Fat dissolving → assessment of the area | 4–6 weeks | Swelling makes honest assessment impossible |
Combinations to avoid entirely
- Two resurfacing treatments in the same month. Compounding barrier disruption, with a real risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation.
- Injectables into an area that is still swollen from something else. You cannot inject accurately into tissue that is not at its baseline.
- Anything at all in the two weeks before a major event. Even reliably low-downtime treatments occasionally bruise.
- A new treatment and an established one on the same day, if you have not had the new one before. If something reacts, you will not know which caused it.
A worked example
Someone in their early forties wanting under-eye improvement, better jawline definition, and generally better skin, starting in September for a December event:
| When | What | Why then |
|---|---|---|
| Week 0 | Consultation and photographs | Establish the plan and the baseline |
| Week 1 | Deluxe 3D HydrO2 facial | Clear the skin; see what is really there |
| Week 3 | Polynucleotides, session 1 (eyes) | Start the slowest treatment first |
| Week 6 | Polynucleotides, session 2 | Protocol interval |
| Week 9 | Polynucleotides, session 3 | Course complete |
| Week 11 | Profhilo, session 1 (face and neck) | Two-week gap after polynucleotides |
| Week 15 | Profhilo, session 2 | Protocol interval |
| Week 18 | 3D HydrO2 facial | Finishing touch, comfortably before the event |
| Week 20 | Event | Nothing in the final fortnight |
Twenty weeks — around five months. That is what a considered plan looks like, and it is the honest answer to "can I have all of this done before Christmas?" if you are asking in November.
The most common mistake
Booking treatments in the order you became aware of them rather than the order that makes clinical sense. It is entirely understandable and it consistently produces worse results for more money.
One consultation covering everything you are considering is worth more than three consultations covering one thing each.
Common questions
Can I have anti-wrinkle injections and Profhilo together?
Yes, they address different things and combine well — but space them about two weeks apart rather than treating the same area on the same day, which risks displacing product before it settles.
How long should I wait between aesthetic treatments?
Two weeks is the common minimum between an injectable and a facial, between resurfacing and injectables in the same area, and after microneedling. Two biostimulators in the same area should be four weeks apart.
Can I have a facial after injectables?
Wait two weeks. Facials and facial massage involve pressure that can displace product which has not fully settled.
What order should I have treatments in?
Decongest the skin first, then treat structure, then skin quality, then refinement. Start the slowest treatment earliest, and leave nothing in the final fortnight before an event.
