Finding an aesthetic clinic near Waterloo: what to look for in SE1

SE1 has more aesthetics clinics per square mile than almost anywhere in London. Here is how to tell them apart — and where we are, if you are looking.

The stretch between Waterloo, Southwark and London Bridge has become unusually dense with aesthetic clinics. Some are excellent. Some are a room above a shop with a practitioner who did a weekend course. From the outside — and especially from a search results page — they can look very similar.

This is what we would check if we were the ones booking.

Six things worth checking before you book anywhere

  1. Who is actually treating you, and what are they registered as? Ask for the name and the registration. Nurses appear on the NMC register, doctors on the GMC, dentists on the GDC — all three are public and searchable in under a minute.
  2. Is there a real consultation before an injectable treatment? For prescription-only medicines this is a legal requirement, not a preference. Same-day injecting with no prior consultation is a red flag about everything else too.
  3. Are prices published? A clinic confident in its pricing puts it on the website. "Prices from" with no upper figure, or "call to enquire" for a standard treatment, usually means the number depends on what they think you will pay.
  4. What happens if something goes wrong? Ask directly. A good answer includes a named person, a review appointment, and access to reversal or corrective treatment where relevant. A vague answer is the answer.
  5. Is the product named? You are entitled to know exactly what is being put into you, including the brand and batch. Any hesitation here should end the conversation.
  6. Does the consultation ever end in "not yet"? A clinic that has never advised someone to wait, or to do nothing, is not consulting. It is selling.

The questions that get honest answers

Generic questions get generic answers. These tend not to:

How we work

Three things it is fair to expect from us, and reasonable to hold us to:

What we offer

Injectables including anti-wrinkle treatment and masseter treatment; biostimulators including polynucleotides, Profhilo and skin boosters and Radiesse; PRP and exosome therapy for skin and hair; 3D HydrO2 facials at three levels; Green Peel resurfacing; fat-dissolving injections; and vitamin injections.

Full pricing sits on the treatments page, and most treatments can be booked online with the time confirmed as you pay.

One last thing

Wherever you go, the strongest signal is not the interior, the Instagram following or the offer. It is whether the person in front of you is willing to talk you out of something. Everything else follows from that.

Common questions

Where is Polished Beauty London?

Waterloo House, 207 Waterloo Road, London SE1 8XD — about five minutes on foot from Waterloo station, and walkable from Lambeth North, Southwark and London Bridge.

What are your opening hours?

Monday to Friday 11:00 to 18:30, Saturday 11:00 to 15:00, closed Sunday.

How do I check an aesthetic practitioner is qualified in the UK?

Ask for their name and registration, then search the public register: NMC for nurses, GMC for doctors, GDC for dentists. It takes under a minute and any legitimate practitioner will expect the question.

Do I need a consultation before treatment?

For any prescription-only medicine, including botulinum toxin, a consultation with a prescriber is a legal requirement in the UK. For other treatments it is strongly recommended, and our £30 consultation deposit is redeemable against whatever you book.

Can I book aesthetic treatments online?

Yes — most treatments can be booked directly on the site with your appointment time confirmed as you pay. Treatments requiring a prescription start with a consultation.
